One of the most convenient and economical ways to travel from Ankara to Cappadocia is by bus. Several bus companies operate daily services between the two locations. Buses depart from Ankara’s main bus terminal, AŞTİ (AŞTİ Otogar), and take approximately 4-5 hours to reach the main bus terminal in Nevşehir, the nearest city to Cappadocia. From Nevşehir, you can easily reach Cappadocia by local transport or taxi.

2. Train:
As of my last update in September 2021, there is no direct train route from Ankara to Cappadocia. However, you can take a train from Ankara to Kayseri, which is a nearby city to Cappadocia. Trains leave from Ankara’s main train station, Ankara Gar, to Kayseri. The journey takes around 3-4 hours. From Kayseri, you can take a bus or taxi to Cappadocia, which is approximately a 1-hour drive.
3. Car:
If you prefer flexibility and independence in your travels, renting a car can be a great option. The drive from Ankara to Cappadocia is approximately 300-350 kilometers (186-217 miles) and takes around 4-5 hours, depending on the specific route and traffic conditions. The roads are well-maintained, and the journey offers scenic views of the Turkish landscape.
4. By Domestic Flight:
While there is no direct airport in Cappadocia, you can take a domestic flight from Ankara to Kayseri or Nevşehir, which are the nearest airports to Cappadocia. Several flights operate daily between Ankara and these cities, and the flight duration is approximately 1-1.5 hours. From the airport, you can take a bus, shuttle, or taxi to reach Cappadocia.
